If you’ve been browsing the site, you may have noticed a few recent additions. We’re in the process of adding the Math4Science Board of Directors to our team page. We couldn’t be prouder to welcome Eduardo Castell, Colin Chellman, and Kenyatta Matthews to our team. They bring M4S a wealth of experience in their professions, homes, and universities and will help us create a top rate organization. But don’t take our word for it: read about our Board here.
Haroon Malak, Analytical Support Scientist and Radiation Safety Officer at Mars, told us about the work he does to make sure M&Ms, Snickers, and the other chocolate bars Mars produces taste just right. We expect the kids mastering math skills with the curriculum we build to be thrilled with the possibility of following in Malak’s footsteps and using those skills to make candy.
When Haroon Malak expressed his enthusiasm for speaking with students, M4S connected him with a science teacher at Urban Academy, an innovative, richly diverse public high school on Manhattan’s East Side. We hear that the Snickers bars he brought to his presentation and also the opportunity to learn about his experiences working in food science and x-ray crystallography were much appreciated.
Summer’s a great time to add scientists and engineers in all fields to our team. We also plan to talk with master math teachers about how they envision using Math4Science in their classrooms.
If you know scientists, engineers, or excellent math teachers, please connect us with them. Copy jhh1822@yahoo.com to the message you send them and include our url (math4science.org).
